Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start a meditation timer?

Open the app, select your desired duration using the picker (1-60 minutes), and tap the Start button. You can configure preparation time (5-45 seconds countdown) in Settings. A countdown will begin before your meditation starts.

What settings are available for the meditation timer?

The timer offers several customization options in Settings:

  • Preparation Time: Enable/disable the countdown before meditation (5, 10, 15, 20, 30, or 45 seconds)
  • Gong Sound: Choose from 4 sounds (Temple Bell, Classic Bowl, Deep Resonance, Clear Strike)
  • Gong Volume: Adjust the volume for start, end, and interval gongs
  • Interval Gongs: Enable periodic reminders at 3, 5, or 10 minute intervals
  • Background Sound: Meditate in silence or with forest ambience
  • Background Volume: Control the ambient sound level

Can I use the timer with my screen locked?

Yes! Still Moment is designed for meditation with locked screens. The timer continues running in the background, and you'll hear the completion gong when your session ends.

What are interval gongs?

Interval gongs are optional audio cues that sound at regular intervals (3, 5, or 10 minutes) during your meditation. Enable them in Settings (sliders icon). You can also choose from 4 different gong sounds (Temple Bell, Classic Bowl, Deep Resonance, Clear Strike) and adjust the gong volume.

How do I switch between Timer and Library?

Still Moment features a two-tab navigation at the bottom of the screen. Tap the timer icon (left) for the meditation timer, or the music note icon (right) for your guided meditation library. Each tab maintains its own state independently.

What background sounds are available?

You can choose between different background sounds in the Timer settings (sliders icon). Options include peaceful silence and gentle nature sounds like forest ambience. Adjust the background sound volume with the slider. All modes include audible start, interval, and completion gongs to mark your practice.

Can I use Timer and Library at the same time?

No - Still Moment intelligently manages audio to prevent conflicts. When you start playback in one tab (e.g., playing a guided meditation in Library), audio in the other tab (e.g., Timer) will automatically pause. This ensures a clear, focused meditation experience.

How do I import guided meditation MP3s?

1. Tap the Library tab (music note icon at the bottom)
2. Tap the "+" button in the top right
3. Select MP3 files from your device (iCloud Drive, Files app, etc.)
4. The app will automatically extract teacher names and titles
5. You can edit metadata by tapping the pencil icon

Does the app collect my meditation data?

No! Still Moment collects zero data. Everything is stored locally on your device. No internet required, no tracking, no analytics. See our Privacy Policy for details.

The timer stopped when my phone screen turned off. What happened?

This can happen if Low Power Mode is enabled or if background audio isn't working properly. Make sure:

  • Low Power Mode is disabled (Settings → Battery)
  • Still Moment has permission for notifications
  • Your device volume isn't muted

If issues persist, try restarting the app.

How do I enable VoiceOver support?

Still Moment is fully accessible with VoiceOver. Enable VoiceOver in Settings → Accessibility → VoiceOver. All buttons and controls have clear labels in German and English.

File Storage

How does meditation import work?

When you import a meditation, Still Moment copies the file to app storage. This uses more storage space but ensures reliable playback at all times. You can safely delete the original file after importing.

What happens to storage when I delete a meditation?

When you delete a meditation from Still Moment, the copied file in app storage is deleted, freeing up space. The original file you imported from remains untouched.

Troubleshooting

App crashes or freezes

Try these steps:

  1. Force quit the app (swipe up from home screen)
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Make sure you're running iOS 17.0 or later
  4. Update to the latest version of Still Moment
  5. Reinstall the app (your settings are stored locally and will be lost)

Guided meditation audio won't play

Sound quality issues

Make sure your device volume is at an appropriate level. Different background sounds have different volume levels - some are designed to be subtle, others more prominent. You can select a different background sound in Timer settings (sliders icon) if the current one doesn't suit your preference.

Audio from wrong tab is playing

Still Moment automatically pauses audio when you switch tabs and start new playback. If you're experiencing issues with audio coordination, try force quitting the app and restarting it.
